The Hong Kong Exlibris Association was founded in December 1989 and plays a crucial role in promoting the culture of exlibris. In 1990, it co - hosted an international exlibris exhibition with the University of Hong Kong Museum and Art Gallery. In 1992, it joined the International Federation of Exlibris Associations (FISAE). Since then, it has been actively involved in international exchanges, such as co - hosting exhibitions with the Central Library and sending representatives to participate in exlibris congresses held around the world.
Exlibris originated in 15th - century Germany and was once used as a book - collecting mark. Now, it has become a carrier for cultural collection and exchange. There are exlibris museums in many places like Denmark and Norway. The association has a large number of members and often invites cultural celebrities to participate in creation, such as Ye Lingfeng and Yu Dafu. Through exhibitions and exchange activities, exlibris, the “gem on paper”, shines in cultural popularization and artistic inheritance, promoting the spread of exlibris art in Hong Kong and internationally.
